ST MARK’S Church in Bordon opened its doors again for its annual Scarecrow Harvest Festival.

Over the weekend of October 5-7, churchgoers were invited to marvel at the themed scarecrows made by groups to display in the church.

“The Scarecrow Harvest Festival weekend went well in spite of a rainy start on Friday,” said organiser Margaret Thompson.

“Colourful sunflowers and scarecrows filled the church, including an onion seller from the Town Twinning Association and a hard hat and hi-vis jacket representative of the Future Skills Centre (which teaches construction skills at the former Louisburg Barracks site in Bordon).

“Saturday was very busy and, with the harvest supper, raised more then £250 towards the upkeep of the church.

“Generous donations for the foodbank filled a large shopping trolley to overflowing at the Sunday morning service.”
