HUNDREDS of residents joined representatives from the Whitehill and Bordon Regeneration Company on Saturday to see and have their say on the proposed shape of the new town centre.

James Child, project lead at the Whitehill and Bordon Regeneration Company, said the event, at Mill Chase school, was a worthwhile piece of public engagement.

“We are delighted with the turnout at the consultation on Saturday,” he said.

“Almost 500 residents joined us to get to know the future of Whitehill and Bordon town centre.

“Residents were particularly welcoming of the entertainment and cultural elements, including the cinema and the arts and heritage centre. and we were pleased that our plans to provide a residential care home and new health centre were also well received.”

The new town centre will be built, along with homes, at the Prince Philip Barracks and Technical Training Area site.

“People were passionate about the need to ensure the town centre catered for the young and that the leisure centre would be made accessible to community groups and local schools,” he said. “The majority of people are excited by the potential to transform the area and they are keen to see change happening soon.

“It was great to get a feel for what local community really wants from the regeneration of the Prince Philip Barracks and feedback received will help finalise our plans.”
