SHOPLIFTERS who attempted to steal goods from Bon Bons Newsagents in Normandy Street on April 16, were foiled when staff gave chase and made a citizen's arrest.
The theft occurred at around 2 pm, when a group of youths entered the shop, picked up a box of crisps and ran out of the shop.
Shop Manager Terry Bromley, said: "These thefts happen quite a lot, but its normally a single packet of crisps or a Mars Bar. A whole box of crisps is just downright cheeky, so we weren't going to let them get away with it.
"The police were on the ball very quickly, and were very efficient in dealing with the thieves once they were handed over."
Two men, aged 17 and 18 respectively, have been bailed until Thursday, May 9.
