ALTON will play host this Saturday (September 22) to the 16th Herald Classic Car Show.
Visitors to the town will be able to wander around and admire some 200 veteran, vintage and classic cars and motorcycles.
Among them will be American and military vehicles, some of which will have takern part in a rally, starting from Lasham Gliding Centre and driving through the surrounding countryside before leading the parade into town from the marshalling point in Anstey Park.
Vehicles are expected to start arriving in Alton from around 9.30am where there will be live entertainment in the Market Square featuring music from the Triple Aces and Dolomites, Mike Twiddy, Vox Vintage and Marianne Smith.
Alton mayor Derek Gardner will be joined by a team of judges to inspect the vehicles, with prizes awarded at 3pm.
Also on show throughout the day will be a glider from Lasham, a display by Energy Alton of electric vehicles, local motor traders stands, an Arts and Antiques Street Market and, taking pride of place in the Market Square, the Mission Motorsport Poppy car - an Mk4 MX-5 covered in poppies that is gearing up for the 2018 Race of Remembrance.
