IT’S A highlight of the town’s festival and this year’s Haslemere classic car show was described as the “best ever”.

The pre-show tour before Sunday’s event featuring 90 eye-catching motors was sold out within days and the scenic route via the Harting Hill Climb was devised by show organiser James Ewing.

Participants then parked up at Lion Green and were joined by more than 140 others for the grand display from all eras up to 1979.

The ‘Best Dressed Car and Crew’ was judged by Haslemere mayor John Robini and Robyn Patterson, a director of show sponsor RedH.

The winners were Phil and Lindy Johnson from Pulborough, with runners-up Vanessa Thorpe from Farnham in a 1962 Ford Cousul MK2 375 Delux and ‘Mod’ Ian MacFadyen.

The ‘People’s Choice’ winner was Roy Hunt from Guildford.

Showgoers also enjoyed 50 quality stalls, cream teas laid on by Haslewey and live music by George’s Coastline Jazz Band.

Members of 1268 (Haslemere) Squadron ATC ensured the classic cars were parked up to best show off their beauty to the crowds.

Mr Ewing said: “Classic cars are my business and hobby, it’s great to be able to share my passion with so many people.”
