LIPHOOK will be taking part in the ‘Clean for the Queen’ campaign, which has been launched to tidy up Britain in time for the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Team Liphook Clean-Up is made up from members of the Women’s Institute, the Scouts, Girlguiding Liphook, Liphook in Bloom, Bohunt School, Bramshott and Liphook Parish Council, East Hampshire District Council and Hampshire County Council.

Teams of litter pickers will be clearing the roads, streets and verges not only in Liphook but Bramshott, Conford and Passfield over the weekend of March 5-6, using litter-pick sticks, high-visibility jackets and heavy duty bags provided by EHDC and the county council.

The parish council will be clearing litter from its open spaces during the week beginning February 29 and it is hoped the county highways team will have completed clearance of litter from the verges along the A3 by then.

Anyone able to assist should meet at Midhurst Road car park at 9.30am on either Saturday or Sunday morning.

Protective gloves need to be worn. Equipment such as hand-held litter-pickers, branded bin bags and hi-visibility jackets can be borrowed before the event. To take part, e-mail [email protected].
