AS mountains are a bit short on the ground in Surrey, the 4th Farnham (Tongham) Scout Group has decided to use Farnham District’s Climbing Tower at Garners’ Field to collectively climb the tower to at least the height of Ben Nevis, 1,345m.
Teams of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, leaders and parents will climb the tower to raise funds for the new headquarters.
The Tongham Scout Group needs to raise at least £250,000 to rebuild their 1960s’ recycled Army shed and bring their HQ into the 21st century.
There has been a Scout Group in Tongham since 1908 offering young people an opportunity to take part in a wide selection of activities including climbing, canoeing, shooting, traditional Scouting skills, camping, hiking to name but a few.
The climb will take place at Garners’ Field Scout Campsite on Sheephatch Lane in Tilford, on Saturday, September 30.
