A FARNHAM man has won a life-changing mobility scooter in a Herald competition.
Run in conjunction with Hexagon Healthcare, Surrey’s leading mobility product showroom, Clive Coleman won the TGA?Eclipse car boot scooter at a safe mobility scooter driving day on September 8.
Mr Coleman, a retired international removals specialist from Farnham, was selected at random as the winner of The Herald competition and was invited, along with his wife, to the Hexagon event to receive his prize.
Clive, 60, lives with disability and many complex conditions resulting from previous major organ failure, and was “over the moon” to receive a TGA scooter courtesy of Hexagon that would help increase his mobility.
As he currently has limited speech following a recent diabetic shock, his wife Wendy said: “He’s not been able to get out much, so he is currently like a kid with a new toy driving it up and down the garden getting used to it. He’s so excited.
“It is very helpful for us and will make both of our lives easier. It is something that would have taken me years to save up for.”
Mrs Coleman added: “This TGA Eclipse will mean we can go out together side by side and I will not have to try to tackle uneven paving slabs and kerbs with our manual wheelchair.
“Clive’s Eclipse will be perfect for visiting garden centres, which we do a lot, as it is so easy to drive and to lift in and out of the boot of the car.”
