TILFORD and Rushmoor Tennis Club are celebrating its first anniversary since its launch last year.

Fiona Wragge-Morley from Tilford and Rushmoor Tennis Club said: “The tennis club committee are pleased to say that during our first year we have seen an enthusiastic uptake of our facilities with our membership doubling in size. It is extremely encouraging that members of the community, old and young alike have been able to enjoy the beauty and harmony of the site as well as the tip top condition of the courts. Of special welcome were the Tilford Brownies who came to play on the courts as one of their sessions in September.”

Every Sunday from 10am the club hosts social tennis sessions, all are welcome and all standards are included – the ability to serve the ball over the net is the only requirement.

Coaching sessions have been held by coaches from Prime Tennis which is running coaching sessions for adults on Saturday and Monday mornings.

Fiona added: “Another one of our activities is ‘round robin tournaments’. We have held two of these this year, they add a little competitive edge to the social sessions which is surprisingly engaging, especially if you love to win as I do. And hugely important for the future is the number of children who can now regularly attend tennis sessions.

“They come from both All Saints School and Waverley Abbey School and have coaching sessions organised by Tilford and Rushmoor Tennis Club and Prime Tennis. The children attend both during their school day and also after school. Prime Tennis is also running coaching for children on a Saturday morning.”
