PEOPLE came together on Friday, September 28, to take part in Macmillan Cancer Support’s popular annual fundraising initiative - the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

One such event, at Bordon’s Forest Community Centre, was the brainchild of Bordon woman Sharmeen Monie.

Four local organisations - the Woolmer Forest Timebank, the Whitehill and Bordon Community Trust, Community First and the community centre itself - joined forces and raised £116 for the charity. “This is my first Macmillan coffee morning,” Ms Monie said.

“I feel great that we have made all this money for such a good charity.

“I’d like to thank everyone who participated and helped out. It was a joint effort.”

Whitehill and Bordon’s co-working space Signal also opened its doors, inviting residents for “coffee, cake and a natter”, raising £135 in the process.

Macmillan offers support to those affected by cancer, from diagnosis to treatment and beyond.
