SARAH Broadbent presented a £500 cheque to John Jacobs, manager of Alton Food Bank, on behalf of the Tuesday ecumenical coffee morning held each week at Alton Methodist Church.

This was also an opportunity to introduce Alton Methodist Church’s new minister, Reverend Philip Simpkins, and his wife, Angela, to regular coffee morning supporters such as Jean Richards.

In the 11 years this joint Anglican/Methodist venture has been operating, more than £8,000 has been raised and donated to charities – all from cups of tea and coffee still priced 50p each.
