A COLLAPSED shop sign has brought rush-hour traffic to a standstill in Farnham this morning.

Miraculously no-one was hurt when the facia of Headmasters hair salon, on The Borough, came crashing down around 9.15am.

An eyewitness said the timber sign appeared water-damaged and rotten in places, following several days of rain.

Police have fenced off the pavement outside Headmasters and are awaiting the shop’s maintenance company to clear up the debris.

It has caused long tailbacks throughout Farnham town centre, affecting Downing Street, Castle Street and West Street.

Headmasters has closed temporarily but hopes to reopen by 11.30am.
