YOUNGSTERS at St Andrew’s School in Farnham dressed up as their favourite book characters to celebrate World Book Day.

The books of JK Rowling proved to be a popular choice with the children and the school counted four Harry Potters and a Ginny Weasley.

There were also three Willy Wonkas and two Horrid Henrys, not to mention Kylo Ren from Star Wars and even a Jesus of Nazareth.

There were witches, pirates and a number of superheroes including Superman, Spider-Man and Batman.

Later the children received a surprise visit from the fearsome local pirate Tom ‘Greybeard’ Easton.

Author, Farnham resident and St Andrew’s dad, Mr Easton visited each class in turn speaking about the importance of reading and writing.

He also read from his series of books The Poor Pirates and told some terrible jokes.

World Book Day Ltd is a registered charity committed to the promotion and development of books and literacy.

Each child is given a £1 book voucher which can be used at most bookshops. For more information visit the website at www.worldbookday.com.
