ALTON Assembly Rooms provided the venue for this year’s Alton Comic Con, which has been declared by the organisers to be “the best yet”.

It was Nerdageddon Events’ second year in Alton and it served to introduce a lively mix of comic characters to the town.

The event brought together some talented costumers and cosplayers from many different comic book, sci fi film and TV shows, ranging from Star Wars and Star Trek to Doctor Who, Marvel and DC Comics. Visitors could have their pictures taken with Chewbacca, Han Solo, Harley Quinn and The Joker, to name but a few.

There was, quite literally, something to delight everyone.

Alongside Ghostbusters and Harry Potter-themed prop displays there were Daleks and The Tardis with Doctor Dixie keeping them under control.

And there was a costume/cosplay competition organised by Basingstoke Cosplay Collective.

In addition, there were trade stalls to cater for nerdy shopping needs which, said a spokesman for the Alton Community Association organisers, contributed toward “a fantastic day of fun” for the whole family.

And the spokesman added: “We are already planning for 2018 to make Alton Comic Con an even better event.”
