WITLEY residents were celebrating a "victory for commonsense" after Surrey County Council relented that a full flood-risk assessment would be carried out, before giving the go-ahead for the expansion of Witley tip.

The decision marks the end of a three-year fight by the Witley and Milford Environment Action Group, which fears the expansion of the tip will lead to increased flooding risks in the area.
