THE Waverley community grant scheme has now opened following approval from the council’s executive on October 6.
Organisations such as Citizens Advice Waverley, Hoppa Community Transport, Age Concern, Farnham Maltings and Cranleigh Arts Centre receive grants directly from the council to provide valuable community services.
Other organisations are funded via the Waverley Community Partnership and Waverley Voluntary Partnership.
They currently allocate just over £200,000 of Waverley’s total grants budget to 35 schemes.
These range from £400 for Help in Elstead to £55,000 to Rowleys Centre for the Community at Cranleigh.
Stefan Reynolds, executive member for communications and grants, said: “I hope there will be a strong set of applications including some from new organisations.
“Funding local community services provides great value for money. But just as important, it provides opportunities for people to volunteer and make a real difference to peoples lives.”
Waverley welcomes grant applications from voluntary, community and faith groups and has published information and advice about the funding process online at www.waverley.gov.uk/grants.
