A popular community fete in Badshot Lea is returning bigger than ever this summer with more stalls, animals and entertainment.

The Badshot Lea and Hale Community Fete will take place on Saturday, June 13, at St George's Church in the centre of the village.

This year’s event will feature animals including a Shetland pony, miniature donkey, goats, chickens and sheep, alongside minibeasts, games, maypole dancing, refreshments and a raffle with a top prize of £100.

The popular pet show is also returning after attracting strong support last year.

The fete will be opened at 11am by Michael Stephens, with Pony Pals appearing until 1pm, the pet show starting at 12.30pm and the raffle drawn at 2pm.

The event is being organised by the Parish of Badshot Lea and Hale.

Churchwarden Kris Lawrence said: “This is always a buzzing family event with lots for all ages and I’m particularly excited by the addition this year of Caroline and her Pony Pals. They are trained therapy animals so are happy to be groomed and cuddled.

“For anyone who likes their animals a bit more creepy-crawly we’ve got minibeasts too, and of course there is the pet show which was a big hit last year.

“There’s entertainment, a café, barbecue and bar, and lots of stalls, including community and craft ones, and we have group of young entrepreneurs from Hale Community Centre who are taking part in a Young Enterprise Challenge and selling their work.

“We hope our Bubble Church puppets will also be making an appearance.

“It’s a great community event which wouldn’t happen without the support of lots of volunteers, planning, baking, setting up, running stalls and clearing up afterwards. So, thank you to everyone involved.”
