Alton town mayor Cllr Annette Eyre and Alton Town Council’s administration and councillor support officer Samantha Brown will abseil down the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth on May 9.

They will be raising funds for the mayor’s charity, St Michael’s Hospice in Basingstoke, and will be 330 feet above the ground at the start of their challenge.

Cllr Eyre said: “Together we’ll be stepping over the edge and tackling this exciting - and slightly nerve-wracking - experience to support a cause that means so much to our local community.

“St Michael’s Hospice provides vital care and support to people facing life-limiting illnesses, as well as offering comfort and guidance to their families during the most difficult times. Their work makes a real difference, ensuring that no-one has to face these challenges alone.”
