WITH another successful year of town centre events management under its belt, Alton Initiatives Management (AIM) Ltd is busy preparing its 2005 programme. And it is offering sponsorship opportunities for what are fast becoming high profile, regional standard events. Last year's programme attracted thousands of people into the town. They came from far and wide to enjoy events such as "Alton in the 1940s", the "Live in the Square" open-air concert, "Town meets Country" and the "Scooby" owners meet, which attracted more than 150 Subaru Impreza cars from all over the UK. AIM is also responsible for organising Alton's weekly Tuesday markets as well as the popular French markets in the High Street and has worked in partnership with Alton Town Council and Alton Chamber of Commerce and Industry to organise the town's lively Christmas festivities weekend. Vernon Pearce, Town Initiatives Manager told The Herald: "These events attract large numbers of people to Alton for the benefit of local businesses and the town as a whole. "We plan to build on this success in 2005 and would like to hear from local companies who are willing to sponsor events in return for a unique opportunity to gain the attention of potential customers. "The Classic Car Show, for example, has become known as The Herald Classic Car Show, due to the sponsorship provided by Farnham Castle Newspapers." He added: "The sums involved may not be as high as you think." Any company interested in a different way of publicising its business can contact Vernon Pearce on 01420 473613 or by email at [email protected]">[email protected] . The message from the town manager is clear: "Your sponsorship will enable AIM to continue to organise events that boost the profile of the market town of Alton and benefit the local economy."
