A BORDON charity has welcomed a helping hand from a computer firm and is sure to widely benefit from the donation in future. The donation was made by Kew Computers to The Furniture Helpline who are neighbours on the Woolmer Industrial Estate. The helpline received a computer and flat screen monitor armed with technology to enable its team to plan and manage more efficiently. The charity's workers are always looking for working cookers, washing machines and fridge freezers, as well as vacuum cleaners, toasters, kettles, microwaves and irons. The helpline is a charity setup for needy families and is supported by Waverley Borough Council though based in Bordon. Frank Conroy, who is a trustee of The Furniture Helpline, is also a personal customer of the computers firm and was able to enlist the help of Peter Gilmour, Kew's engineering manager. Gerald Robinson, the charity's manager, said: "Running a charity can at times seem the hardest job in the world. Finances are always tight and everything runs on a shoestring. "But when a knight in shining armour comes over the hill and to our aid, it helps so much to make all the hard work seem so worth while." Gerald highlighted its importance because it also means that the printing and designing of documents can be carried out in advance of the AGM on May 18 at the Forest Community Centre.
