ST Peter’s Church in Wrecclesham will host a concert in aid of Farnham girl Laura Sylvester this Saturday (October 1).
Laura, 23, recently returned to the UK following eight months of pioneering treatment for a rare and incurable genetic disease Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) in Washington DC.
Her three operations, two of which were life-saving, were only made possible by the generosity of the Farnham community which has helped raise a staggering £190,000 for her treatment in less than 12 months.
However, with eye-watering bills for her ongoing therapy and future check-ups in DC, Laura’s family is still gratefully receiving donations towards their target of £300,000 online at www.youcaring.com/laura-sylvester-483048.
This weekend’s concert at St Peter’s will feature music for oboe and violin by Vivaldi, Mozart, Albinoni and Bach, performed by Sylvia Ellison and Orpheus Papafilippou with the strings of the Chamelon Arts Orchestra.
The Modern Guitar Trio will also perform with music by Roland Chadwick and Vincent Lindsay-Clark.
Doors will open at 7.30pm and tickets are available for £10 on the door or by calling 07900084643. A retiring collection will be held in aid of the Care for Laura appeal.
