CONSTRUCTION of the long-awaited Brightwells scheme in Farnham - proposing new shops, restaurants, an Odeon cinema and 239 flats south of East Street - officially got under way on Monday.
In demolishing the former Brightwell Tennis Club clubhouse, developer Crest Nicholson has discharged a crucial condition to begin construction within three years of its 2012 planning consent being granted.
It means Crest effectively has six and a half years to complete the scheme without endangering its contract with Waverley Borough Council to undertake the works.
