THE media came to town last week, transforming the high street in Odiham into a film set, graced by a celebrity.

It may not have been a Hollywood blockbuster, with explosions and car chases. All the same, the village is set to make a splash.

The celebrity in question was TV chef and Saturday Kitchen star James Martin, who was filming a TV advert for supermarket giant Asda.

The filming started at around 9.30am outside Fountain’s Mall on the High Street. A house nearby was also filmed for the ad.

The weather did not play its part, but the filming still created plenty of buzz on social media.

The exact date the commercial will be screened is not known. It is thought to be a part of Asda’s summer campaign.

As part of the scenario, the production crew set up a bus stop, prior to filming. A handful of hapless residents, who have longed for a bus stop, thought the parish council had finally listened to their demands. They waited, and waited… but their bus never showed up – only the film crew.
