MANY Waverley council tenants can finally look forward to double glazing, energy-efficient heating systems, and new kitchens and bathrooms after the Government agreed to stump up nearly £8.5m to fund the work.
One-third of the borough's council homes fall short of the official Decent Homes Standard - a situation blamed by Waverley on the £12.8m "negative subsidy" that it has to pay to the Government from its Housing Revenue Account.
