A FORMER former council property in Haslemere is being demolished to be replaced by two modern two-bedroom houses.

Waverley Borough Council says the new homes at 33 Bridge Road will be in keeping with the character of the street, while meeting the highest modern construction standards.

They will be built by Davis Construction with Allen Construction Consultancy acting as employers agent, the new homes will be practical, energy efficient and sustainable; there will also be four parking spaces included in the development.

A turf cutting ceremony last Wednesday marked the beginning of work on site.

The construction is expected to take six months when the new homes will be ready to let to new tenants.

Carole King, councillor for housing, said: “We have been working hard to make the best possible use of the housing land available.

“These high-quality council houses will be a great asset for Bridge Road while helping to meet demand for council properties from local families in Waverley.”
