COUNCIL tax protesters in the Bordon area are urging more people to stand up and be counted and take part in a march in London in October.

The Isitfair campaign, founded by Christine Melsom, has organised the march to protest against next April's predicted council tax rises.

Now the group want more residents to join them and make their voice heard.

Mrs Melsom told The Herald this week: "At this time it is so important that we do show our feelings about council tax because people in the Hampshire area will be hit very badly by the revaluation and rebanding in 2007."

She added: "The way to do it is to support this march on October 2. It is important we make our feelings known now.

"Now is the time to protest because councils start their budgets now."

Campaigners are looking for more support in the Liphook area in order to provide coach transport from the town.

In addition to the march, Mrs Melsom will be making a deputation to Hampshire County Council's first budget meeting on September 30.
