A DECISION by Haslemere Town Council to increase the precept by £20,000 for the 2000/2001 year will mean a £2.86 increase per year in council tax for the average Band D household.
The 17.1 per cent increase in council tax, which will mean an increase in the precept to be levied on Waverley Borough Council from £97,000 to £117,000, was agreed by the Conservative-run town council at a meeting of the finance and general purposes committee last week.
