HOME-Start WeyWater had its coffers boosted when Alton town and district councillor Graham Hill presented the charity with a cheque for £350.

The money will be used to fund a first-aid training course for volunteers.

Covering the Alton, Bordon and Liphook areas, Home-Start WeyWater trains volunteers to support families in their own homes during times of crisis.

An essential part of the training is preparing volunteers to cope with all kinds of emergencies such as a child choking or falling down stairs, or even a mother fainting.

The first-aid course gives volunteers the necessary skills and confidence to manage such crises and is a crucial part of their ongoing professional development.
