A BORDON charity that supports families with young children is now fully furnished and ready to help.

Home-Start Wey Water - which serves families in Bordon, Alton and Liphook - has moved to the Chase Children's Centre, in Budds Lane, Bordon. And thanks to a grant of £750 from county councillor Adam Carew, the office is now fully furnished.

The grant comes from the £10,000 each county councillor has to distribute to local community organisations that meet the council's key objectives of wellbeing, safety and sense of place.

Mr Carew said: "I invited Home-Start to make an application to my county councillor's fund when they told me they had just moved into Bordon and needed urgent help setting up.

"Every year Home-Start does a great deal of good, helping parents with young children in Whitehill-Bordon, Alton and Liphook.

"It's all too easy to get isolated when you have a young family. Home-Start provides a great deal of advice and support for parents, offers parenting classes and improves families' health, education and wellbeing. It also provides social networks for parents, offering events and fun days out.

"The office is now all set up and I wish them all the very best for the future."

Home-Start manager Pam Jones said: "We are really grateful to Adam Carew for his council grant to help set up our new offices and for all he is doing for us.

"Home-Start is an independent charity dedicated to helping young families in Alton, Liphook and Bordon, but we cannot function without volunteers to offer parents friendship and support.

"We are urgently in need of more volunteers to help expand our services. If anyone is interested in joining our friendly team please contact our staff."
