FOLLOWING national outrage over MPs' expenses, East Hampshire District Council leader Ferris Cowper has published the allowances paid to councillors by the authority over the last financial year.

He himself took some flack when his allowance was increased from £7,779 to slightly more than £12,000 and, as a result, he promised to donate £4,000 of it to charity every year.
