TOWN councillors objected to yet more plans for flats in Petersfield this week amid fears of excessive traffic outside Petersfield fire station and designs that could contribute towards a "God-awful town centre". And members say the plans, to build two flats and one detached house in Swan Street, could also clog the roads around Petersfield Hospital. At a meeting of the planning committee on Tuesday, Ken Hick said: "It is putting more and more cars in to the urban scene. Where do you stop? "Let's take this to its logical conclusion. We are going to end up with a God-awful town centre. At what point do we say we have made a mistake and we have got to stop?" Chris Jenner added: "I have serious reservations about the over-development of the site. "We will end up with four developments on the space of one. I have got no problem with subdividing, but squeezing another house in is over-development. I hope they get on well with each other because they are going to be very close."
