THE countdown is on for Petersfield's First World War centenary commemorations, which begin next spring.

As the town launches a poignant and imaginative calendar of events for 2014 and beyond, the first of a number of important dates begins in March with the opening of Petersfield Museum following its winter break.

The popular St Peter's Road venue will feature a special display called Petersfield and the Great War, which took from 1914-18.
