A teenager has been placed under curfew and told to wear an electronic tag for four weeks after stealing cases of Red Bull and Lucozade from an outbuilding in Bordon.

The 15 year old from Bordon, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted trespassing in the storage room on June 26, 2022, and stealing drinks worth £50.

He was sentenced at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on February 17 and told to pay £20 compensation and a £26 surcharge.

He will also have to wear an electronic tag for four weeks, and remain at home between 10pm and 6am each day, until March 16.

A separate charge of going equipped for theft, with a balaclava and bolt croppers, was withdrawn.

Magistrates ordered the teen to pay £10 a month until the balance of £46 is paid.

In the UK, under the Children and Young Persons Act 1933, and the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999, the names of people aged under 18 at the time of their offence cannot be published in the media.

This is to protect their identity and prevent potential harm to their future. This applies to all types of media, including newspapers, television and online platforms.
