A woman has been jailed for 26 weeks for shoplifting and breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) in Aldershot.
Charlene Ellacott, 37, of Coppice Square, Aldershot, stole household and confectionery products worth more than £260 from One Stop on North Lane.
She also breached a CBO when she took the items on five different occasions in January and February.
Ellacott pleaded guilty to five counts of theft from a shop and five counts of breaching a CBO and was jailed for 26 weeks at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 20.
Police Sergeant Rob Tiller, from the Aldershot Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Our message is clear – shoplifting will not be tolerated in Aldershot.
“The actions of shoplifters make a huge difference to businesses as they have to recover the costs which have been lost. This results in shops typically increasing prices, which has a huge impact on the wider public.
“We take all reports of shoplifting extremely seriously and I hope this result reassures the public that we will do all we can to put offenders before the courts.”
He added: “If you are a shop owner or staff member, please continue to report any shoplifting to us. With your information, we can take action, including arresting and charging suspects and convicting offenders at court.
“You can do this by calling 101, or by reporting online via the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary website. If a crime is in progress, please call 999.”
