PROCEEDS from The X Factor winners’ debut single will again be donated to Haslemere’s local children’s hospice Shooting Star CHASE.

Millions of viewers tuned in to see Rak-Su crowned the winners of the ITV talent contest last Sunday - the group released their duet with Grammy-award winning rapper Wyclef Jean and producer Naughty Boy at 10pm that night.

Proceeds from the song Dimelo will be split between children’s hospice charities, Shooting Star CHASE and Together for Short Lives. Simon Cowell, Shooting Star’s vice-president also personally donated £250,000 to the fund.

The X Factor founder challenged the public to raise £1million to help provide vital care and support for children and their families. The single can be downloaded via iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play and Apple Music.

Caroline and Ellie, who featured in an appeal film during Saturday night’s show, told the story of their son and brother Josh, a sporty but unassuming 16-year-old.

He’d had no significant health concerns, until one day Josh was given the devastating news he had clear cell sarcoma – a very rare form of cancer.

“The moment we arrived at the hospice everything changed,” said Josh’s mum, Caroline.

“Although it was an experience too painful to explain, Shooting Star Chase made it the best it could be. I will always be grateful for the way they cared for Josh and our family.”

Hospice fundraiser Karen Sugarman said: “We cannot be more thrilled or proud to be the joint beneficiary of The X Factor charity single. The incredible pledge of £250,000 from Simon Cowell is the most incredible news.

“I had the honour of knowing Josh. He was a brave and wonderful young man and his legacy will always live on in our hearts. We send huge congratulations to Rak-Su, who I know will do us proud.”
