FARNHAM Maltings, organiser and venue to many of the South East’s leading craft festivals, is moving its popular annual textiles festival ‘thread’ to become its flagship summer craft event.

Now in its sixth year, Thread...A Festival of Textiles, will make the most of the warm summer weather on Saturday, June 30, the same day as Farnham Carnival and Fayre in Gostrey Meadow, to give the show a fresh identity, with added seasonal features including al fresco dining and activities.

Visitors can expect all of their favourite aspects of the show to return between 9am and 6pm, including a curated marketplace hosting independent textile businesses selling artisan fabrics and haberdashery and makers own work.

Also featuring a programme of expert talks, participation sessions and a range of bookable workshops, thread delivers a friendly and intimate atmosphere held throughout Farnham Maltings’ characterful building.

Thread festival organiser Gemma Curtis said: “We identified that there was an opening in our craft calendar and we are delighted to move the show to the end of June, heralding a crafty start to our summer.

“We are looking forward to welcoming back visitors who come each year, as well as seeing this new date as an opportunity for those who have not been before.”

Tickets cost £5 in advance (available until noon on Friday, June 29), £7.50 on the door, with under-15s free. For more details, visit craft.farnhammaltings.com.
