THE Liphook Crankers are gearing up for the 2018 Charity Bike Ride this weekend..

Spokesman and ride chairman Alistair Halliday told The Herald: “This year Bramshott Place, Baron’s BMW of Hindhead, East Hampshire District Council and Bohunt School are the main sponsors for the ride as well as McDonald Oates, Altis, Oak Lodge Dental Practice, Fusion Health and Fitness and Sainsbury’s are advertising the event on their petrol pumps.

“It is the 100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force and Petersfield Air Cadets will assist with car parking at Bohunt Centre, while Liphook Guides are again manning the three refreshment stops along the route and Owens Cycles of Petersfield is providing the bike ride technical support along the route.

“We are appealing for more marshals to come forward for the main and junior ride as well as more sponsors,” Mr Halliday added.

For the first time, the Sunday service at the Liphook Church Centre has been cancelled and a big barbecue will be held in the church field after the event.

The main 25-mile ride starts at Bohunt Centre, on Sunday, June 10, at 10am and the junior ride in the playing fields behind the school begins at 10.30am.

Road closures will affect Liphook Square between 9.55am and 10.20am.

Online registration is available and entries are £15 in advance or £25 on the day.
