TRAFFIC concerns are likely to prove the main challenge to the progress of the East Street redevelopment, after Crest Nicholson all but guaranteed funding for the scheme this week.
The ability of Crest Nicholson to secure financial support for the East Street development has become a prominent theme during the public inquiry into Waverley Borough Council's attempted compulsory purchase of The Marlborough Head pub - with objectors arguing the purchase cannot be allowed without proof of funding for the scheme.
However, the developer sought to end the speculation on Tuesday when it unveiled plans for a confidence-boosting return to the stock market and the FTSE 250, five years after the company was taken private ahead of the industry-wide crash.
