WEYDON School’s under-15 girls’ indoor cricket team have been crowned county champions.

The team beat tough opposition in the form of Roseberry, Salesian and Charter schools to claim the trophy.

Captain Amelia Marshall was again the stand-out player but all of the team made important contributions in some close finishes.

Head coach Danielle Gregory was particularly pleased with the improvement in the team’s performance since their first match.

Danielle said: “The girls were nervous in their first match but showed tremendous resilience in all of their remaining matches.

“The quality of our bowling was probably what made the difference, but now we are all really excited about going to the regional finals in April.”
