KEVIN Hurley, Surrey’s outspoken police commissioner, has vowed to crush the cars of fly-tippers if re-elected this May.
In a post on his personal Facebook page, the self-styled ‘zero tolerance’ Police and Crime Commissioner said: “When I was a police chief I used to encourage the cops to seize criminals cars and crush them.
“So the next piece of legislation we will exploit to persecute fly tippers in Surrey [are] powers to seize a vehicle, trailer or mobile plant and their contents if it’s believed it is being, has been or will be used to commit a waste crime such as fly-tipping.”
Mr Hurley added vehicles and their contents can be seized under the Control of Pollution (Amendment) Act 1989 or the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
