PEOPLE in Farnham will have the chance to quiz police and crime commissioner election hopefuls this month.

The six candidates for the new role, which carries a salary of £85,000, will appear on the hustings at St Joan's Centre, on Tilford Road, Farnham, on November 12, at 7.30pm.

The event has been arranged by Churches Together in Farnham and will give people the chance to quix the sextet on their plans.

Voters will go to the polls on Thursday, November 15, to elect Surrey's first police and crime commissioner, who will be responsible for overseeing the work of the police and the chief constable, superceding the role of the Surrey Police Authority.

The six candidates are Robert Evans (Labour), Kevin Hurley (Zero Tolerance Policing), Julie Iles (Conservative), Nick O'Shea (Liberal), Robert Shatwell (UKIP) and Peter Williams (Independent).
