Fernhurst Revels returns today Sunday (May 19) and promises to be bigger and better than ever, with free parking and free entry

As always, the fun starts with the procession through the village at 12.30pm to the recreation ground for the crowning of this year’s May Queen, Jasmine Brimacombe.

This will be followed by maypole dancing, a fancy-dress competition on the theme of film characters with prizes for all ages, as well as the Best-Dressed Wheels competition.

Further highlights are a falconry display, reptiles, fun dog show, archery and children’s games and a host of stalls.

Visitors can see how fast they or their dog can run, measured by a speed gun.

The choice of refreshments includes a barbecue cooked up by the scouts, a hog roast, Thai food and waffles.

Showgoers can enjoy a Pimms while listening to jazz or the ukulele band.

Anyone who wants0 to take part in the fancy-dress competition is invited to turn up at Nappers Wood before 12.30pm and take part in the procession to the fair.
