AN anonymous benefactor has made an astonishing £200,000 donation to a Farnham man who cycled the length of Britain for charity. Matt Wooldridge was left speechless after receiving confirmation of the payment after he completed the bike ride from John O'Groats to Land's End. Five Farnham friends had pedalled 1,015 miles in 14 days to raise nearly £10,000 for various charities. Then Matt learned of the staggering contribution to his chosen cause – Mercy Ships, which operates a hospital ship on the west coast of Africa. He said: "I thought it was a joke at first, or someone had accidentally added a few too many noughts to the figure they were donating." For full story, see this week's Farnham Herald.
