FARNHAM Town Council has delivered a scathing assessment of the controversial Brightwells/East Street scheme, expressing "substantial doubt and uncertainty as to the suitability of the current scheme to meet the future needs of Farnham".

In a report sent to Waverley Borough Council this week, the town council slams the proposed development as "backward and regressive", "flawed" in design and describes its approach to traffic issues as "ill thought-out and potentially dangerous".

The damning comments accompany the council's formal objection to a planning application to extend the planning permission granted for the current Brightwells/East St scheme in 2008, set to be determined by Waverley on August 8.
