A DANCE project for boys from Weydon School in Farnham and Christ’s College Guildford will take to the stage on Tuesday, May 17.

Leg-It is a boys-only dance class that was set up by The Dance Movement in September 2015. Over the past seven months, the 10 to 16-year-old boys have participated in weekly after-school dance classes. The two schools will now come together to perform before an audience at GLive.

Rachel Palmer, programme director, said: “The boys have been working really hard and have built on a dance they first performed in March. The dance is an evolving piece that explores sustainability and community togetherness. The group has been learning new moves and some of the boys will be applying techniques they learned at the recent workshop we held with Re: Bourne, the charitable arm of Matthew Bourne’s New Adventure.

“We are delighted that the boys now have the opportunity to perform at GLive and particularly that they are sharing a double bill of men’s dance with BalletBoyz. This nationally acclaimed, all male dance company serve as a powerful and inspiring example for our young dancers.”

Leg-It will perform in the Studio Theatre at 6pm. The tickets cost £2 and details about how to book can be found at www.thedancemovement.co.uk. Tickets for BalletBoyz are available from GLive.
