IN a week which saw a robot land on a comet in outer space, Petersfield had an other-worldly experience of its own when Darth Vader helped switch on the town's Christmas lights.

The sinister and imposing baddie of the blockbuster Star Wars films finally saw the light last Friday when he helped to usher in the festive season.

Flanked by his Stormtroopers from the original trilogy, and other henchmen from later films, Darth Vader flicked the switch which turned The Square, the High Street and Chapel Street into a winter wonderland for the run up to Christmas.
