LIPHOOK Day Centre has applied to the Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund for a prize of £300.

The centre needs people to vote for them and has issued a petition for support. Its volunteers and staff make a difference to the lives of the elderly of the parish by providing home-cooked lunches, teas as well as friendship, TLC and activities.

In addition centre volunteers offer to collect clients and take them home and help with shopping.

Volunteer Anne Hall said: “We have asked for a contribution to our food budget so we can push the boat out a bit at Christmas and for client’s birthdays."

And she added: “As charities are receiving a lot of bad press at the moment, we can assure everyone we will not be giving hand outs to the elderly of Liphook to buy any illegal substances and alcohol – although it would be fun to see our chairman, Bob Hall, dressed more like the Kids Charity’s Camilla Batmanghelidgh."
