AS they have done for the last eight years, Four Marks Primary School lit up the skies on Friday night with their annual bonfire night celebrations, with brilliant displays of fireworks before a large crowd of children, parents and friends.

Earlier, the Friends of Four Marks School, who organised the event, and the governors, staff and volunteers had a wet day setting up the stalls, tents and the fireworks.

The Scouts organised the bonfire, Charters Estate Agents sponsored the evening which provided plenty of refreshments with hot dogs a real favourite, and Triple fff donated beer.

As the sky filled with giant displays of rockets, fiery multicoloured patterns and showers of sparkles and stars, school headteacher Veronica Stoodley said they were pleased with how well the event had been supported this year.

“It is one of the highlights of the school calendar and it wholeheartedly showcases the community spirit in the village,” said Mrs Stoodley.

Cash raised during the evening will go toward book bags for every child in reception year, free special events for all the children, an Easter egg hunt and Christmas party, and additional learning resources.
