Dazzling: Inaugural Liphook Colour Run raises £5k for food bank

They came in white and left in every colour of the rainbow.

Villagers were seeing red, blue and everything in-between on Saturday (September 19) as families turned up in force for the inaugural Liphook Colour Run.

And it’s fair to say the event was a phenomenal success with tickets selling out in 20 minutes and more than £5,000 raised at the time of writing for Liphook Food Bank.

The idea was the brainchild of a group of Liphook parents who wanted to give their families something fun to do close to home.

The event at Radford Park was joyous, full of laughter and brought families and people of all ages together – with every step giving something back to a good cause that helps local families.

“We're so grateful to everyone who took part,” said Glynis Blake, trustee at Liphook Food Bank.

“Every penny makes a real difference to local families, and it means the world to see our community turn out in such colourful force.”

Committee co-chair Laura Palmer added: “Selling out in 20 minutes blew us away, and watching families cross the finish line covered head to toe in colour was everything we hoped for.

“Thank you to everyone who made it happen, especially our brilliant committee: Pamela Hibbins, Laura Hards, Katy Jupp, Rebekah Killick, Tracy Durkin and Johnny Graham. A force to be reckoned with."

Organisers have also thanked all the wonderful sponsors, Laura Hirons Photography for capturing the day, and to the Scouts, Guides, marshals and first aiders who gave their time.

Bramshott & Liphook Parish Council allowed the use of Radford Park while grants from district councillors Angela Glass, Bill Mouland and Nick Sear made it possible.
