FARNHAM Park is one of two Waverley green spaces that could be crowned the UK’s Best Park – but they need votes by Wednesday, November 9, in order to win.
Farnham Park and Broadwater Park in Farncombe were both nominated by residents to win the Fields in Trust UK Best Park competition and are now up against 18 others in the South East of England category.
Farnham councillor Julia Potts, leader of Waverley Borough Council, said: “I’m really pleased to hear that two of our parks are in with a chance of winning the competition.
“I’m not surprised to see these parks have been nominated by Waverley residents; both received Green Flag Awards earlier this year and are kept to extremely high standards.
“They both also have excellent volunteering communities and Friends Of groups which give up a lot of time to keep the spaces looking so fantastic.
“I know there are a lot of people out there who love to spend time in these parks so, if you are one of them, please vote so they get the recognition they deserve.
“Voting is quick and easy – it only takes five minutes – and it really would top off a fantastic year for our parks and green spaces to get one more award.
“Everyone has until at 5pm on Wednesday, November 9, to cast their vote and make sure Waverley’s parks have the best chance of winning.”
